Pipe Dreams Band! Pipe Dreams!
Psychedelic 60s Dance Party!
A Bit About Us!

Pipe Dreams is a band whose music selection is a tribute to the reason Rock & Roll exists today. Beginning with the music from the mid 60's and the Fab 4 and leading up to Woodstock were some of the most creative times in music history.

Rising above the multitude of Alternative and Heavy bands that populate the local scene, Pipe Dreams has become a crowd favorite. Attracting an audience which ranges from college age (looking to discover the past) to those who were raised in the "Summer of Love".

Pipe Dreams diverse show features a "Heavy Water Light Show" (circa Fillmore East 68'), a stage adorned with lava lamps, burning incense and attire right out of "Carnaby Street" boutiques! Crowd participation dance party includes: Hoola Hoop Contests, tambourine playing audience members and a "Love Bead" adorned crowd, a favorite with our fans.

As our presence has broadened, Pipe Dreams has built a following from a wide geographical area. A variety of live appearances in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio including Pittsburgh, Erie, Youngstown and our home in Sharon, Pa. All have served to refine the band's sound and lay a foundation for greater future success.

It began on February 9, 1964. Things were not going to be the same after that. It grew with two kids named Jeff & George and the Abu Reflex...My first taste of the stage? And then it fell asleep for 20 odd years with only an occasional awakening in the late 80s.

I came to life only to be raised by goats for a small period of time that sparked a new awakening...another sleeping...some Witch Haxel...an untimely death...depression...then Abby & James. Could this be a brand new kind of Voodoo? It's time to embrace the Bokor and be renewed again.

Andy Warhol loved us! The college was shocked!! The marching of pilgrims eating violets!!!

Then an ubrupt halt leaving only Charlie...floating...Terry...and he who must not be named...searching...only to meet with Donald the Muse, who pointed to Ray, who conjured up Dave, who began the final period, and best of all I might add... known as PIPE DREAMS...(and now back to February 9, 1964, with gusto).

I've played continuously in bands since age 25 covering the genres from classic rock to country rock and Grateful Dead. I've performed as opening act for national acts including Poco, Earl Scruggs, John Hartford, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, Donnie Iris and The Michael Stanley Band. Playing full time between 1976 and 1978. I've performed in 19 states and Canada. I've also played on seven albums/CDs and met Bob doing an original dance/performance art project in 1999.

Dave's interest in drumming was sparked after he watched the Beatles make their United States debut on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. He began playing at jam sessions while serving in the United States Army. Since then, he has played with W.C. and The Gold Rush Band, Beaver Falls, Pa. The Don Sebastian Trio and Abby Road Beatles Tribute Band, both based in Youngstown Ohio. Locally he has played with Trouble Shooters, Karied Away, and Caribbean Music Connection. He has been a member of PIPE DREAMS since the band was organized.

"Playing with PIPE DREAMS has given me the chance to play along side some of the area's most talented musicians who enjoy music from the same era as i do."

A little known fact is that Dave played drums for 32 consecutive days in 1980 for an unofficial Guinness Record. He is also the host of Jam Nights at the Alley Cat Lounge, in Greenville, Pa.

Like the rest of PIPE DREAMS, I grew up with 60's music. In the summers I worked trimming Christmas trees for 85 cents an hour to save up for my first electric guitar and 5 watt amplifier. I joined my first band in Junior High School which consisted of my guitar, a drummer, two trombones and a clarinet. We even had matching outfits! Since those days I don't think I have ever been without a band of one sort or another. PIPE DREAMS has brought me back to my roots of 60's rock and roll.
